Societal Attitudes Supporting Rape (via searchingforavila)

This is fucking scary, and it shows that we do live in a “rape culture” in which abusers and rapists have little idea that they are doing something wrong. My abuser didn’t….

In which we despair for the universe…

(via invisiblelad)

There are so many of these horrible survey results, and everyone should know them and then tell me there’s no such thing as misogyny and rape culture.

(via wretchedoftheearth)

and the absolutely shitty thing is that these norms seep into the law because most rape law in this country is built out of these very norms. and people don’t wanna challenge those laws specifically because they come from these norms.

Soooo….. by this logic, we shouldn’t let female politicians make health care decisions on behalf of men?

The solution I guess is to divide the genders and let them only vote, implement and concern themselves with their genders health care.

The day that women are trying to force men into a specific medical decision, or creating legislation that manipulates the law into blocking medical access for men in general and certain procedures/medications specifically, or interfering with doctors’ decisions about men’s health, this will be valid. Until then it’s ridiculous.

I think a more accurate blog title might be “amberlysaysstupidshitconstantly”.

cultivate: The Top 5 Quotes About Rape from Republican Men

1…Legitimate rape??

2…Relax and enjoy it?  Go fuck yourself.  Fuckin’ enjoy me shoving a broken beer bottle up your ass.  It’s inevitable.

3…I have no words.  You don’t know what you’re fuckin’ talking about.

4…I didn’t know inviting someone into my living space gives them the rights to my body.  Get the fuck out of here.

5…Best of a bad situation?  This isn’t an unfortunate haircut…this is violence, abuse, and life-changing trauma.

agvnotes:

These are the best GOP rape quotes I could find - but message me if you have more! Let’s hold these people accountable.

1. Todd Akin: “If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways of shutting that whole thing down” - mid 2012 Senate Campaign

2. Claytie Williams: “If it’s inevitable, just relax and enjoy it” - mid 1990 Gubernatorial race in Texas

3.  Chuck Winder: “I would hope that when a woman goes in to a physician with a rape issue, that physician will indeed ask her about perhaps her marriage, was this pregnancy caused by normal relations in a marriage or was it truly caused by a rape. I assume that’s part of the counseling that goes on.” - March 2012

4.  Ken Buck: “A jury could very well conclude that this is a case of buyer’s remorse … It appears to me … you invited him over… the appearance is of consent.” - October 2010

5. Rick Santorum: “I think the right approach is to accept this horribly created — in the sense of rape — but nevertheless a gift in a very broken way, the gift of human life, and accept what God has given to you… rape victims should make the best of a bad situation.” - January, 2012

Walmart, Target, Hanes, Macy's Linked To Rape Factory In Jordan

feministblackboard:

feministdykeslut:

Some of the biggest names in American retail have been linked to a Jordanian garment factory that allegedly rapes, tortures, and abuses its female workers, according to a report by the Institute of Global Labour and Human Rights, formerly known as the National Labor Committee. In a petition on Change.org, the human-rights organization accuses supervisors at Classic Factory, which supplies clothing to WalmartTargetMacy’sKohl’sHanes, and Land’s End, of sexually assaulting dozens of migrant workers from Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, most of whom are virtually imprisoned in dilapidated surroundings. “We only went to Jordan to earn money to help our families,” says a young woman who goes by the name “Nazma” to protect her identity. “We had no idea that factory managers would rape so many of us young girls.”

I don’t like to reblog too often, but look at this.

I wish you didn’t have to throw the word “rape” around like posting a less than stellar quality of a GIF you made is similar to the feeling of being raped. sweet word choice, bro.

Either way you teach it, it’s still going to happen. Just think about it. They teach us to not smoke or drink or any of that crap, but you still do it. They tell you not to have unprotected sex and not to even have sex till you’re married, but you still do it. They teach you all this stuff, but you don’t listen. What makes you think little pervs are going to listen when you tell them not to rape? I think they should still teach it, but I’m just saying it’s not going to stop the little creeps in the world. Innocent girls would still get raped, no matter what was taught.

no. it’s that kind of thinking that won’t change anything. if you teach young men the value of women, that men don’t have the right to just treat women as their objects, etc. give young men good examples of how to treat girls and see what happens. too often in society boys are told that they can do whatever they want to girls, especially since they are weak & easy to overcome. i’m sorry, but you’re thinking is wrong. & this may be a muck of a rant but i don’t care. we have the power to change society, we have the power to at least try to stop/reduce rape.
